This month was a little bittersweet for our family. Rusty has had lumps all over his body for a couple years now that he is older and one on his back started festering. It was bloody and oozing all over. It was in the same spot that he had some cancer removed a couple years ago and we knew that his time was short. On the Saturday before Easter we took him on a hike in the hills behind our neighborhood as one last fun outing with him. He seemed to have a fun time, but was worn out by the time we got back. To make it even worse, we discovered that he had stepped on some cactus while we were there and had some thorns in the lower parts of his leg. Poor guy!

Easter Morning! The kids found their baskets and some eggs with candy and money! Lucky!
On April 7th Rusty started having problems walking and we knew it was time. We made an appointment with the Vet the next morning and he was put down on April 8th, Sad day for our family. Here's some pictures of the last few hours we had with him.
Poor Lila cried for an hour and a half that day while she snuggled him. She and Shaun had a very special bond with Rusty.
Shaun's face kills me there. He was so sad that day. I think I've seen Shaun cry maybe 3 times ever, and a tearless cry. This time, the tears were streaming. Broke my heart a little.

One weekend in April we went to Alta and stayed in a 2 million dollar cabin that Shaun insured. Nightly rates are usually $1500 a night, but the guy let us stay there for free because Shaun saved him so much money on his insurance. Cody and Danielle came with us and we had a great time!
