Paint

Sometimes I am a curse to myself. A couple weeks ago I decided that I'd really like to repaint our piano room..... then I decided I'd like to repaint the living room.... then why not do the entire main level? I was super excited about this project and planned to do it in sections so it wouldn't be too overwhelming. I told Shaun about my plans and he offered to check out prices for hiring someone to do the painting for us. Super sweet! Long story short, we hired someone, he was SUPER unreliable, he taped and put on one coat of paint on some of the trim, then we had to let him go. Now the whole house is a disaster, with tape and paper everywhere, the furniture pulled away from the walls and all the kitchen appliances put away. So my last week has been spent painting after the kids are in bed like a mad woman trying to get this house back in order. Poor Shaun finally volunteered to pitch in even though this is my mess and is helping to make it go a lot faster (plus we get to listen to our book while he helps!) Anyway, we're shooting for getting it done before our anniversary on Wed and Isaak's birthday on Thurs. Wish us luck!

Shaun's Birthday!

Shaun turned 32 this last week! He had a great day, woke up to cherry turnovers for breakfast and got to hit the Jazz game after work. Happy Birthday babe!!

4th annual 25th Birthday!

Yesterday was my Birthday! Shaun got up early and made my favorite breakfast before he left for work. Throughout the day I was flooded with texts and phone calls from friends and family wishing me a Happy Birthday. In the evening I dropped the kids off at my good friend Kirsten's house so I could go to Famous Dave's with my honey. Seriously, that is THE best restaurant ever! Then it was back to our home for cake and then I snuggled up to watch a movie with Shaun. Another year older, and hopefully wiser. 28 was a busy and crazy year that I learned a lot from. Here's to my last year in the twenties!

Christmas week 2010

I think this may be the longest post I've ever done! I'm covering the entire Christmas week, so look out! There are a lot of pictures ahead. The two weeks before Christmas week I was SO sick, so we mostly hung around the house in the first part of the week. Isaak would go into his room and read books or play with his toys. (always with his fruit snacks and water, of course.) It also snowed a few days before Christmas, so Isaak would go outside and eat as much snow as he could.
We watched a lot of Christmas specials that we recorded on TV.

Here's Lila touching the forbidden tree.

On Wednesday the 22nd, we had the Woodford family Christmas party at our house. It was our first time hosting this annual party, so I was a little nervous to be in charge of such a big event! We had such a great time. We ate dinner, had our talent show, played the "left, right" gift exchange game, then the kids piled onto my bed to watch the new Christmas Carol movie while the adults hung out downstairs and watched the U game. Such a fun party and it lasted about 6 hours by the time the last people left! Here's Grandpa and Jane...
We had 25 people at our home so we lined up three table through the kitchen and dining room, then had a fourth in the living room.
Handsome boys! Jordan just barely got his mission call about a week ago. Ivory Coast in Africa!! He gets to wear sandals and short sleeves, and he's kind of close to all the fighting. A little scary, but he's SO excited and leaves in April!
Here we are for the talent show, the Woodfords really know how to perform! Here's Ryan doing some comedy...

My sweet Mom eating her dinner...
Awww aren't we cute???!
I love my little family!
Here I am trying to wrangle Isaak in to doing his talent. He was so much more interested in playing with his cousins, but still sang "Santa Clause is Coming to Town" and told us all the sounds of the alphebet.
Spencer, Jordan, and Zachary's talent was SO fun to listen to! They play the same four cords, but sang about 20 popular songs to go along with it, I've got a recording at the end.

Here's Jessie playing a John Denver song. She's getting so good!
The Petersen clan. I love our annual Woodford parties and I love my awesome family!
On Christmas Eve morning we went to Brett's home for Patsy's Christmas party. We had such a great time. We had scones for breakfast, then we got to open presents from Grandma and Grandpa! Here's Isaak after breakfast passing the time with Lauren until he could open his gifts. She is going to be a great babysitter!

Let the opening begin! These sing-a-ma-jigs and so funny!
I think Isaak's eyes about popped out of his head when he saw this truck!
And Lila even fits in the back!

Adam helped Lila open her gifts. She got a stroller and an adorable new baby.

Thanks for all the great gifts and a great party!!!!
On Christmas Eve night our little family went to see the Zoo lights. I've been so sick for so long that we haven't gone to do anything just us, as a family in about a month, so this was so special for me. Here's Isaak and Shaun in front of the reindeer, even though you can't see them!
In December I've taken the kids to South Town Mall twice to see Santa, but both times the line was so long that we just gave up. I was so excited to find out that Santa was at the Zoo and that we could just walk right up to him!!! And just in time before he left in his sleigh to deliver our presents.

Most of the animals were put away, but we did get to see the reptiles and the big cats, and most important, the lights!!

We've tried taking Isaak on this Merry go Round a couple times, and he's always happy just to sit on the bench. Maybe next year. :)

On Christmas morning, we had Isaak stay in our room and watch TV until Lila woke up, then we all came down the stairs and he ran right for Lila's 4 wheeler!

Then he finally noticed his presents.

After we opened our presents, we went to Grandpa Ric's house for breakfast and presents! I completely forgot to bring my camera, so I don't have any pictures! Arrgh! Breakfast was beautiful and yummy and we got completely spoiled, as usual. Then my parents came over in the afternoon to see our presents. The day after Christmas we went over to my parent's home for lunch, which was so yummy and fun, but after we got home I went upstairs and took a much needed nap. Thank you everyone for a wonderful week and for having us at all the fun parties!!! WE LOVE YOU AND ARE SO LUCKY TO HAVE SUCH GREAT FAMILY ON ALL SIDES! Merry Christmas!

Family pictures

Yay! It took a lot of working around everyone's schedule, but we got these done for the Grandparents just in time for Christmas.

My Caregivers

Yesterday I could hardly move because I was so sick with a sinus infection. Poor Shaun tried his hardest to get someone to watch the kids for me, but I was so stubborn I about bit his head off because I was so sure that I could do it all on my own. (stupid, I know) Anyway, I put the kids in their rooms with toys and snacks so I could lay down and finally ended up laying down on Lila's bedroom floor because she was lonely. She kept coming over and giving me kisses and feeding me her own chips. Super cute! Captain Awesome (aka Shaun) came home early and sent me right to bed so I could sleep. Isaak came upstairs with me and tucked me in and tried to sing me a song. Such a cute family!!!! I love them all so much! I am on antibiotics and feeling much better today, thank goodness.
