Last Tuesday we had a scary experience. Poor Isaak had a Febrile seizure. He'd been fine all morning, I knew that he was getting one of his big molars but he hadn't been sick at all. When I got him up from his nap, I changed his diaper and just as I was finishing, his little legs and arms came up and he started shaking. My first thought was "Gee, are you cold?" Then his eyes rolled back and he started foaming at the mouth! He was making this horrible rasping sound so I couldn't even tell if he was breathing. I scooped him up, grabbed my cell phone and ran out the door. My neighbor is a nurse so I ran over to her house as I was calling 911. Of COURSE she wasn't home! As I was waiting on her porch, my other neighbor stuck her head out her front door to call to her kids. I ran over to her house (still calling 911!) and as soon as she answered the door I handed her Isaak so I could finish my phone call. She was SO SWEET! Isaak was ok at that point. He only seized for about 30 seconds, but then he was so unresponsive until I handed him to my neighbor. He looked up and started touching her face. Then he fell asleep till the paramedics arrived. They put an oxygen mask up to his face and he jerked awake and looked around all confused. They took his temperature and it was at 101.7. They said it is pretty common for kids to have seizures when they get temperatures quickly. It tends to run in families and often a seizure is the FIRST indicator that they even have a fever!! So, it may happen again sometime. At least I know what to do if it does. We got to ride in the ambulance to Primary Children's and he's doing just fine. Now we've got TWO molars coming in, so I've got to really watch his temperature. Moments like that make you realize just HOW MUCH you love your kids!!!

This picture is typical of Isaak lately. He's recently discovered his nostrils and ears and ALWAYS has a finger in one of not both. Just glad he hasn't figured out how to PICK yet. :) The next picture is also pretty typical. All Isaak wants to do these days is read.

My brother, Jonathan and family came in town this last week. It was pretty eventful with several family parties and get togethers.

Thanks for your comment on my blog! That is such a scary moment with little Isaak. I am glad that he is ok and now you know what to do if it happens again, hopefully for you guys it won't!
That would be so scary. I am so glad your sweet little Isaak is doing okay. Having a clean house makes me happy too.
I can't imagine how scared you must have been with Isaak's seizure. I teared up just reading about it. So glad everything is ok.
